Codicote Mill, Heath Hill

Codicote is recorded as having a mill on this site way back in the Domesday Book, 1086.  Situated on the banks of the River Mimram, it served the village right up until the early part of the 20^th century, when it was converted into a private residence.  The miller’s wagon was made in Welwyn for the mill in around 1880, and was capable of transporting 3 tons of grain and flour.  After its working life it was bought by the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading.
